(R)evolution of consumption patterns

With the widespread use of smartphones, tablets and connected objects, consumption habits are changing and deeply alter the relationship of consumers to trade. Today, consumers no longer have to adapt to the retailers: the merchants do.

Consumers are looking for much more immediacy and mobility in the way they consume. They wish to have the best offer in terms of choice, price, service, whenever they want and whatever the place. Now, there are as many buying journeys as customers.

Responsive Retail: the answer of (e-)retailers

The concept of Responsive Retail is the response strategy of retailers and e-retailers to the new cross-channel behaviour.

The intensive omni-channel strategies and digitisation issues make sense to bring an enhanced and consistent consumer experience and to stimulate the interaction between the brand and its customers.

To be responsive is more than a strategy. It is a corporate vision and a real state of mind that requires to:

  • Understand the consumer, through the study and analysis of its customers' new behaviors
  • Promote tailored offers, by offering a personalized experience to each client throughout the buying journey
  • Integrate the logistics management across the entire supply chain, to assist consumers in their need for stocks information and encourage cross-channel behavior
  • Cultivate the shopping experience, by making the point of sale a real place to live, by taking customers into its brand universe and by offering different and memorable experiences.
